1.   What is the full bandwidth used by the Pro-X1 Multiplexing System?

The Pro-X1 Multiplexing Systems operates from 0 Hz (DC) to approximately 30 MHz (including video sidebands).

2.   What carrier frequencies are used?

In Table 1 following, "CA" refers to the Pro-X1 camera adapter and "CU" refers to the Pro-X1 control unit:

3.   What type of modulation/demodulation is used?

No modulation occurs on the 0 Hz (DC) camera power or the 290 kHz protection "tone" signal. The remainder of the audio and video channels all use frequency modulation (FM) and quadrature detection (at the demodulator circuitry). The end result is high-quality baseband analog signals using minimal radio frequency (RF) bandwidth.

4.   What is the bandwidth of the individual video and audio signals?

Camera Video

Deviation (frequency shift) of the camera video carrier is 3.5 MHz from sync tip to peak white. When decoded (demodulated), the output video bandwidth is approximately 5 MHz. Camera video specifications (baseband video):

FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 30 Hz to 6.0 MHz, less than +/- 0.5 dB @ 7.0 MHz, less than -3.0 dB

DIFFERENTIAL GAIN: less than +/- 1%

DIFFERENTIAL PHRASE: less than +/- 1 degree

SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO: better than 56 dB

RESOLUTION: better than 600 TV lines

Program Audio

The program audio carrier is deviated approximately 50 kHz (deviation is set monitoring the input voltage to the audio modulator). Program audio channel specifications (baseband audio):

BALANCED OUTPUT LEVEL: 600 Ohm (Variable from -10 to 0 dBm)

BANDWIDTH: 20 Hz to 20 kHz, better than +1/–2 dB

DISTORTION (THD): Less than 2%

HEADROOM: *10dB

DYNAMIC RANGE: 80 dB (noise floor to peak clip)

SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO: better than 60 dB)

*Specification based on –5 dBm output level.

Intercom Audio

The intercom audio carriers are deviated approximately 50 kHz (deviation is set monitoring the input voltage to the audio modulators). The intercom audio channel bandwidths are limited (to avoid interference with the program audio channel), so intercom audio is not typically as "clean" as program audio. However, based on the audio reproduction abilities of the included intercom headsets, this limitation is not overly apparent.
