Camplex Corporation: PSA-71 Power Surge Absorber Option
While professional camcorders from different manufacturers will vary, some require up to 20 amps of power for a few milli-seconds at startup in order to actuate the camera head. That surge is immediately followed during the next several milli-seconds by several 6-amp spikes in the current demand which are needed to initiate other functions such as turning on the tape player and rewinding tape. After those initial surges the camcorder then reverts to its normal operating power demand of approximately under 4 amps.
When a camcorder is interfaced with a Camplex CP-701 system that is equipped with the OPT7-2 Camera Power option and the PSA-71 Power Surge Adapter option, those initial battery-draining current demands, along with the need for regular operating power, can be effortlessly met without the need for a battery and without interrupting production.
